Return to Civilization

Posted on Sunday, July 13, 2008 in Uncategorized

‘Twas a short trip to the Adirondacks… We decided not to stay another night, as there wasn’t any vacancy at The Hedges, and we didn’t feel like driving father north to Tupper Lake. It was still a nice getaway, from the hubbub of ‘civilized life.’

I have a bunch of photos to upload, but I can’t get iPhoto to upload the photos to Google’s Picasa Web Albums, so they may just have to wait. I would otherwise upload them here but I’d rather not use up the disk space! It’s expensive these day! ;)

Just Arrived at The Hedges

Posted on Thursday, July 10, 2008 in travel

I just arrived at The Hedges in Blue Mountain Lake, NY. This is not the first time I’ve stayed here, but unfortunately my blog post about it was deleted in a fatal server mishap. Oops!

Anyway, the Adirondack region is definitely my favorite, and I am glad to be up here. I hope to take hundreds o photos to commemorate my stay here. Today is cloudy and windy so everything looks blah. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

I Sure Don’t Miss My Last Job

Posted on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in New Hartford, NY, Places, travel

Earlier today, I took a train from Penn Station at 1:45pm and arrived in Utica, NY at around 6:30pm. Just on time! Overall, the trip was quite pleasant, as I watched Michael Moore’s SiCKO as well as the Disney/Pixar animated film Ratatouille. Both were excellent films (for very different reasons, obviously) and sure made the time fly by. I would definitely have to say that ratatouille is by far one of the only animated films that I have wanted to watch. I was very impressed to see that Amtrak offers outlets to plug in our digital devices. Without that, I wouldn’t have gotten through my second movie! Now all we need is some wireless Internet and we’ll be all set.

Anyways, I stopped in at my old workplace and within several minutes I was incredibly glad to be away from there. And not only away, but far, far away! It was like a step back into high school, with the he said/she said crap. I have come to the conclusion that the majority of people that are employed at the New Hartford Wal*Mart are complete and utter idiots! It seems harsh to say, yes, but believe me – I worked there for about 7 months and I feel overly qualified to say that they are idiots. Not just the peons on the salesfloor, but the management (Assistant manager Donna Jean Frost, as well as the store manager Paul Plevritis).

Back from SoHo

Posted on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in Day Trips

Earlier I ran down to Pearl Paints to pick up a portfolio so I can safely carry my prints around. I had no idea that portfolios were so expensive (mine cost $106, with sales tax)!

Anyways, the trip back was exhausting (for a newbie New Yorker). Canal Street is crazy, it’s warm, and the subway is excruciatingly hot! But it sure did feel good once I plopped by butt down on the subway. I just appreciate the fact that I can take the 6 from Canal St to 96th st for $2 and be there in like 15 minutes!

Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos, but my plan for tomorrow is to go down to Union Square and work my way over into Greenwich Village and take some shots.
